DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen owner, Matt Peterson, was recently featured in the Northwest Business Monthly as one of Northwest Washington's Rising Stars in business. The article is below.
Northwest Business Monthly (NWBM): What is the name and location of your business? What is your specific line of business?
Matt Peterson (MP): DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen. Our Design Center is located at 3311 Northwest Avenue in Bellingham. The showroom is open to the public, and we invite people to come on in and see all that DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen has to offer!
All of us at DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen are in the business of creating rooms that fit your lifestyles! As remodelers we have heard millions of horror stories about our line of work, our goal at DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen is to change that stereotype with a higher level of professionalism and service at every stage of any size project. Our experts recognize that there is a balance to offering suggestions and really listening to what you want. Whether you are considering a simple update, or you would like a total redo with all new options, we can take care of everything you need from design to construction. You and your family deserve no less.
NWBM: What are some of your business' notable accomplishments? (Business growth, awards, new direction, etc.)
MP: DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen has been a fixture in this community for decades under the watchful eye of Mark and Deb Lambert. We believe in the power of community and that is why we decided to established our lives here when the business was purchased last year. We fell in love with the beauty of this area, and plan on remaining here to raise our family and watch it grow. The result is you are always dealing with a business that has an appreciation for your community. Just as important, our DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen is also a part of a national organization with over 100 locations across the country. With quarterly trainings, our team is up to date on the latest products, technology, and techniques within the industry. High standards of workmanship and quality products are as important to us as they are to you!
NWBM: What are your future business/career goals?
MP: Our vision is to be the premier choice for kitchen and bath remodeling by homeowners in Whatcom County, admired for our excellence in service and craftsmanship! We plan on growing our team to better facilitate our clients which involves the construction of a satellite office in the Anacortes area within the next five years.
NWBM: What do you count as your professional achievements?
MP: Growing a successful remodeling business in the Seattle-Metro area has allowed us the opportunity to be a part of this community with DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen. Working with and managing an experienced team at a younger age has been both enlightening and challenging. We appreciate everyday more and more the people around us that help make our dreams a reality!
NWBM: What specific community or philanthropic projects are you involved in?
MP: We strive to do all that we can for Habitat for Humanity. We believe in their philosophy and appreciate all the effort that their staff as well as volunteers put into helping families achieve their goals. Our company sponsors events in our showroom that benefit Habitat for Humanity as well as getting our team out to help on build projects. We also work very closely with the Building Industry Association of Whatcom County by sitting on a variety of committees to insure that our community is getting the best when it comes to construction services and community projects. We believe in this community, and therefore we try our best to be involved in whatever events the Chamber, WYPs, local charities, Girl Scouts of Whatcom County, schools, and neighborhood associations invite us to be a part of. We understand that our business relies on the support of the community, and we feel honored to be involved and to "give back" to a place that has offered us so much.
NWBM: What is your advice for other young professionals?
MP: Our advice to other young professionals is to manage your emotions and believe in the power of your dreams. Don't give up on what you are striving to achieve. The world can be discouraging but don't let those who never attained their own goals keep you from reaching yours.
Out of every other place we have lived, Whatcom County offers young business people the opportunity to be as successful as you want to be. Become involved! Becoming members of WYPs and the Chamber of Commerce has not only been beneficial in our business life but we have also met great people that we have connected to on a personal level as well.
